Holly Hill is located in Volusia County Florida, United States.
At the 2010 census, it had 11,659 people. Holly Hill’s city boundaries lie on the Florida mainland. This is in contrast to the larger cities of Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach which cover both the mainland as well as the barrier island (beachfront) across the Halifax River.
Geography
The United States Census Bureau estimates that the city covers 4.5 miles (12 km2) of land and 0.6 miles (1.6 km2) of water.
Although Holly Hill is close to the coast it is entirely landlocked. However, some of the most beautiful beaches in the Sunshine State are only a hop, skip, and a jump away.
Histories
The US government sent a train from the United States to Europe in the years following the Second World War to aid with recovery efforts.
A part of the same train is now back in America, and it’s located on Ridgewood Avenue, Holly Hill. It’s known as the Merci Train Boxcar and is open to all visitors Tuesday through Saturday, from noon to 4 PM.
It is one of the rare attractions that you won’t find anywhere else; it’s a convenient and free thing for military buffs and history buffs. Nearly everyone finds its background fascinating.
Holly Hill was founded in 1901. Incorporation was originally intended to make it difficult for local razorback hog owners to keep their livestock in captivity.

There were 5,583 households with children under 18 years old, 34.9% with married couples, 13.6% with a female householder without a husband, and 46.3% with non-families. 37.9% of households had one person, 17.2% had one person 65 years or older. The average size of a household was 2.14, and that of a family was 2.77.
Holly Hill History Museum
The Holly Hill History Museum is situated across from City Hall, Ridgewood Avenue. Although it is small, the museum is the main destination for anyone interested in learning more about the past of the city.
The museum is run by enthusiastic and knowledgeable local volunteers. It contains a variety of interesting exhibits including photographs, historical memorabilia, first-hand accounts from pioneers and settlers who lived in the area over centuries.
