Edgewater, Florida, is a community located alongside the Indian River and adjacent to the Mosquito Lagoon. Our Intracoastal waterfront community offers all the charm you would expect from a small town. We also have commercial and business activities. Over 233,319 people live in the City, which is home to many wildlife species, including manatees and fish, as well as dolphins and manatees. Edgewater was established by Dr. John Milton Hawks in 1800.

There were 8,786 households. 22.3% of these households had children under 18 years old, 49.0% had married couples living together, 12.1% had female householders with no husband, and 33.4% were not families. 26.0% of all households consisted of individuals and 13.6% were composed of someone 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.36, and the average family size 2.79.
The city’s population was distributed with 19.2% of the population under 18 years old, 21.6% of 25-44-year-olds, 30.0% of 45-64-year-olds, and 22.1% over 65 years. The median age was 46.7. There were 92.2 males for every 100 females. There were 89.6 men for every 100 females over 18 years old.
