It had a population of 61,005 people according to the 2010 U.S. Census. The city’s beach is famous for its hard-packed sand, which permits motorized vehicles to travel on the beach in designated spots.
[8] Daytona Beach became a motorsports mecca thanks to the hard-packed sand, and the old Daytona Beach Road Course hosted races for more than 50 years. Daytona International Speedway took its place in 1959. NASCAR’s headquarters are also located in the city.
Throughout the year, significant groups of out-of-towners visit Daytona Beach for numerous events, most notably Speedweeks in early February, when over 200,000 NASCAR fans descend on the city to watch the season-opening Daytona 500. The NASCAR Coke Zero Sugar 400 race in August, Bike Week in early March, Biketoberfest in late October, and the 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race in January are among the other events.
